This publication investigates the creation and transformation of Zagreb by international immigration to the city. It focuses on migrants from middle classes, coming from around the world, who have been driven to Zagreb by love (romantic relationship) and/or small or medium business enterprise. They have been living in Zagreb for a few years. International migrants make the city and their place in it in a variety of ways. Their individual stories of migration are diverse, but they reveal a similar experience of encounters with the city and becoming incorporated into city life. Zagreb’s materiality and aesthetics, its character and atmosphere, and its potential and transformation have been singled out as the hub of migrant experiences.

The authors of the text are Jasna Čapo and Petra Kelemen. Most photos were taken by Karmen Stošić, cover image was created by Irin Stošić, and the publication was designed by Maša Hrvatin. Elizabeth Salmore translated the book from the Croatian original.
