Jasna Čapo delivered a presentation Identity and the Other in Croatian culture: cultural anthropological approaches at the 44th Zagreb Slavic Seminar in Dubrovnik, August 20, 2015. She proposed a typology of writings about Croatian (cultural and national) identity in the past two decades dividing them into inventory, constructionist and instrumental approaches. The analysis was carried out on the basis of deconstructionist assumptions about Otherness and an understanding of identity as a relational, interactionist, and dynamic process, which mirrors constitutive Others relevant for a group at a particular moment in time. A report about the presenation can be found here.
