Jasna Čapo Žmegač has a BA in Ethnology and French language and literature from the University of Zagreb, an MA in cultural anthropology and a PhD in demography from the University of California, Berkeley.
 As a post-doctoral research fellow, she stayed in Strasbourg and Vienna, and as a Humboldt-Fellow in Munich and Berlin. She is a senior research associate at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research in Zagreb and titular professor at the University of Zagreb.
 She was an invited professor in Vienna, Ljubljana, Aix-en-Provence and Toulouse. Her research interests include anthropology of migration, especially forced and labour migration, and the politics of identity-construction in diaspora settings, history, epistemology and methodology of ethnology and cultural anthropology, anthropology of rituals, history of family. Her bibliography includes five monographs, seven co-edited volumes and about ninety articles. She has co-edited volumes with presentations of Croatian ethnology and folklore studies in English, German and French.

Sanja Đurin is senior assistant at Institute of ethnology and folklore research in Zagreb, Croatia. She obtained her B.A. in Philosophy and General Linguistics from Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, and her M.A. in imprisonment (case study: prison Lepoglava) from Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis (ISH), Slovenia. She is the winner of HESP stipend for PhD study. Her doctoral thesis (obtained at Institutum Studiorum Humanitatis (ISH), Slovenia) is analyzing the politics of sexuality in Croatia across different political regimes (1941-2000). In 1999 Sanja attended one-year gender studies at Centar za ženske studije Zagreb, and in 2001 one-year peace studies at Delavsko-punkerska Univerza Ljubljana, Slovenija.
Interested in social anthropology and cultural studies, Sanja is researching different social niches characterized by uneven power distribution and its consequences – subjugation and marginalization, i.e. discursive production of marginality. Her target are ethnical, gender and other minority items as well as subjugated identities (migrants, prisoners, waitresses, gay people). Sanja is also dedicated to migration studies – she was doing her fieldwork research in Germany and South America (Chile and Argentina).

Valentina Gulin Zrnić is research advisor at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research in Zagreb. She holds a PhD in ethnology and cultural anthropology from the University of Zagreb (2004). Her focus is on urban anthropology, anthropology of place and space, identity studies, Mediterranean studies, history of Croatian ethnology, methodological and fieldwork issues, interdisciplinary approaches (literary anthropology, historical anthropology, anthropology of architecture, environmental anthropology). She is the author of the book “Kvartovska spika. Značenja grada i urbani lokalizmi u Novom Zagrebu” (Talk of the Neighbourhood: Meanings of City and Urban Localisms in Novi Zagreb) which is awarded by Croatian ethnological society’s annual prize.

Petra Kelemen is an assistant professor at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. At the same faculty she graduated Croatian language and literature and ethnology. In 2012 she defended her doctoral thesis titled „The Festival and the Town – Cultural Policies, Performances and Identities. A Case Study of the Špancirfest, Varaždin“. She is currently enrolled in the Postgraduate Doctoral Study of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology. Under the supervision of Prof Jasna Čapo Žmegač she works on her doctoral thesis dedicated to contemporary migrations. She teaches courses Anthropology of Tourism and Anthropology of Festivals. She is a co-author of the book „Grad kakav bi trebao biti. Etnološki i kulturnoantropološki osvrti na festivale“ / “The town as it should be. Dr. Tihana Rubić was born in Zagreb in 1978. She is an assistant professor at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of University of Zagreb. In 2004 she graduated Ethnology and History of Art and in 2012 received her PhD in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology.

Tihana is enrolled in teaching at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, holding seminars in the courses Basic Concepts of Croatian Ethnology, Ethnocultural Overview of the World, and Anthropology of Family and Kinship. She did research on a series of national and international projects and presented papers at about fifteen national and international conferences. She edited six books and published works in national and international publications.

Her scientific interests encompass the following areas: family and kinship, urban – rural sites and relations, unemployment, formal and informal labor markets.

Laura Šakaja is a professor of cultural geography at the University of Zagreb. She graduated geography and biology at Abkhazian State University. As a post-graduate student she studied in Moscow State University “M.V. Lomonosov” where she received her degree (kandidat nauk) in the field of social and economic geography. She holds her PhD in geography from the University of Zagreb. Previously, she worked in the Institute of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and in the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies and was editor-in-chief of the journal Migracijske i etničke teme [Migration and Ethnic Research]. Her bibliography includes a book and about thirty scientific papers in the field of social and cultural geography. Her research interests include imaginative geographies, symbolic landscapes, urban toponymy and ethnic relations. Currently, she is working on urban daily environment and mental maps.

Nevena Škrbić Alempijević is an associate professor at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. She received her PhD at the same Department in 2006. She teaches the following courses: Cultural Anthropological Problems of the Mediterranean, Performance Studies in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Anthropology of Social Memory, Ethno-cultural Problems of South-East Europe, Places as Spaces of Social Memory. Areas of her scientific interest are: anthropology of social memory, anthropology of place and space, island studies, performance studies, studies of carnivals, festivals and other public events. She co-edited a scientific monograph titled “Tito Revisited. Celebrating the Day of Youth in Kumrovec”, for which she was awarded the Croatian Ethnological Society’s annual award in 2006. In 2013, together with Petra Kelemen, she obtained the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences annual award for the book “The Town as it Should Be. Ethnological and Cultural Anthropological Reflections on Festivals”.
